I beleive a Spicebush Swallowtail

Goldfinches

Bluebird....not the best, had to zoom to far

Thanks, the goldfinches are my favorite song bird around here, so colorful and quite comical to watch as they balance on some of the smallest of plants, like the Bachlor Buttons.

Thanks Kim

Very neat shots!  How long between the two pics?

KatFish... if you look the catterpiler is already changing, that picture was taken in the evening and the second the next late morning.  I should take another as the yellow striping is gone that is now the gold band, also if you notice the gold dots.....they look like real gold.  One year we had 27 chrysalises hanging on the house and a few in garden plants.  If I'm lucky I'll get to see it emerge.  I have pictures of one doing so from years ago.  I did in-home daycare at the time and the kids and I watched it emerge while waiting for the bus.  I photo documented  that one from Catterpiler to Butterfly and the kids took the photo album  to school for show and tell because I wouldn't let them have the butterfly.

Wonderful photos.

We don't have Monarchs here but we do have Tiger Swallowtails. American goldfinches are not in the city but are in rural areas so I have seen them wild but rarely. They are so pretty.

Great pics of your butterflies.  I love the finch on the coneflower.  It's no wonder they like your yard, so many beautiful blooms. o(:-)
About a month ago we had lots of butterflies but they have all disappeared.  :-\ I mean totally gone. :'(
They were mostly tiger swallowtails, black swallowtails and a few monarchs.  It has been very dry here, no rain since mid July, but I keep the flowers watered.  I have only seen a couple monarch caterpillars earlier this summer, no chrysalis at all.  I have a large area of milkweed planted near our deck.  We usually find the chrysalis on the lawn chairs, brick wall, gutters, etc.  I usually tag a few of them.  So sad not to have any this year. :'(

Wonderful pics of the wildlife and flowers, Marla!  @O@

My echinacea disappeared this year completely.  I'm sure it was crowded out by the jonquils.  I used to have a nice patch of echinacea that would come up after the jonquils died back...but no more.  :'(  Now I'm going to have to find another place to plant some more echinacea.    :)
