This was prior to 9/11, but when we lived in Halifax, Nova Scotia we had a family friend who had a metal pin in her ankle.
Every three weeks or so she would pop onto a plane to New York, "just to recharge her batteries". Well, she would set the detectives off each time, but, "depending on the attitude of the screener" I would, or would not tell them about my ankle.
Since that innocent time, I wear slip on / off loafers, no wrist watch, no coins, a loose jacket, and carefully packed hand luggage - easilly searched. Now it just takes three hours to clear LAX on a domestic flight.
Driving to San Diego and Las Vegas is actually quicker than flying - and considerably cheaper too, even considering $4.50 per gal gas, and the airlines are wondering about not making a profit.
Stay home and pond!
Cheers,
Mike
