I am so happy for you. I lived in Florida for 19 years. I would take my legal documents, negatives or cds now, aint life grand. I would grab my four legged friends and my children and go camping. Oh, I would go back to the house and get my wife, boy was she livid. We would go north to georgia, tennessee, or go on up to where I now live, Indiana. I would always come home to a house that had little to no damage. I was always lucky. I did, however, feel it important to protect the things I love the most,my family.
I had a nice Koi pond down in Florida. Although they actually took precedent over a lot of things in my life, they never took precedent over my family. The Cats and dogs got to ride because you could put them in a carrier or on a leash and the kids could hug them and tell them it was going to be ok. Try doing that to a fish. Try doing that to a lilly. This board is a great board/forum to learn, interact and discuss items that have to do with ponding. This forum leads to relationships. These relationships are either simply an online chit chat and becoming friends, to people visiting, one on one talking, actual interaction and becoming someone you know.
I no longer live in Florida but I know the dangers each storm pose. I think that someone with great knowledge should post on here what to and not to do in regards to a great storm. It could be researched and done on the tutorials and locked like most of them are. It should be done now, and made a topic for our southerly friends. I think there is someone out there with the answers. I do not have the answers.
I think these things should be read by our southerly and easterly friends before danger approaches. I live in a tornado prone zone. although it probably won't remove my pond it could remove my house. I have read and practiced what to do in the event a tornado might come. Information is knowledge. Lets find this and post it.
Again congrats on your power being turned on. I hope all works out great for you. If you need assistance give me a call. 1-812-649-4129. I don't have money but I have heart and muscle.
