I saw that a while back too. It just gives me the shivers. In one way that lion is just a big kitty cat but on the other hand, I don't know if I would have had the courage to just stand there when it was running towards me.

Esther, I thought that too the first time I saw it!   :o

I read somewhere (maybe on MSNBC?) that they were doing to do a movie about Christian and his life growing up with the two guys, based on the book one (or both...boy, my memory is great, isn't it!   lol) of them had written.  That should be interesting.   :)

It is a wonderful film clip. Funny how it is making it's way around the world thirty plus years after the fact. The clip is from 1972.

There was a movie filmed in 1971 when they were returning Christian to the wild with George Adamson:

Here is an update with the two men:

Looks like there may be another movie that addresses the current You Tube phenomenon.

I don't mind admitting that I shed a tear, or six. Amazing what happens when you mix the British Empire and people who just love animals.

Going through Harrods in 1976, I did not see any wild animals for sale, but our British hosts did explain that Harrods did anything - if you could afford it. "Want that Indian Elephant gift wrapped and on your husbands' mistrisses' patio at tea time? No problem at all - Just let me have your charge account number.

Customer service has along way to go to catch up with what it once was!

Cheers,

Mike

my reaction was to cry as well.  when you see how much he loves his former owners and lavishs himself on them with true lion tenderness.....just blew me away.  simply put, he remembered them and still loved them.  who would have ever imagined that a lion in the wild for a year, could go back to being a baby kitty by seeing his former owners.

I did not.

I actually thought it was going to be a set up so was expecting that.  Good that it wasn't.  It was very touching.
