Yikes! Ike!
« on: September 05, 2008, 11:45:26 PM »
Anyone in Florida and the Gulf Coast needs to keep an eye on H. Ike.
Its a BEEG WAN.... currently projected to skip along the north side of Cuba and into the Gulf.
From there its probably going in to the panhandle of Floriday, but it could go further west - into Mississippi, Alabama or New Orleans.  :o

Yeah, Ike has been awesome since he formed.  We are staying over here in Merida until Wed as by then we should know whether he turns north towards Florida or west towards us.   He looks pretty evil.  Poor Cuba and the Florida Keys, Cuba in particular has been battered from both sides recently.  They have a very good civil defense network but there is only so much you can do on an island.  I just hope he misses Haiti and DR as they are not at all recovered, there are some horrible situations there and many dead.

Never a dull moment in the fall around here.

Here in Shreveport, Louisiana Gustav went east of us instead of the projected west of us.  The result was just a good drizzing rain for a couple of days.  The people to the east of us received the floods we were expecting.  But I am saving the sandbags I thought I was going to need then for this next storm coming in.

The computer models are still pretty widely spaced after Ike leaves Cuba. But it does look like Louisiana is in for another one.
