Train

Finally I may have succeeded in producing a movie of my garden railroad.  Many thanks to Mucky Waters for his invaluable help

in guiding me through the process of getting it in shape to put on the web.  Anyhooo, here is my first attempt:

Absolutely love it!  It had me stomping my feet and laughing out loud.  I watched it the first time noticing the train and the dogs, (and of course the great music) then had to watch it again to pay attention to the beautiful landscaping.  I'm sure you have spent a lot of time on the train, the garden and the video.  Thanks for posting it.

GREAT JOB!  I thoroughly enjoyed it.  I especially liked your choice of music as accompaniment and loved the puppies’ part in it.   Your yard & pond is lovely too.  You must have many hours of hard work and enjoyment invested.  I give it a TWO THUMBS UP  O0  O0

Nicely done.  How many feet of track did you lay?  Looks like quite a bit.  I got a kick out of seeing the Beagles wandering about.

We loved it. All of us. One question- how do you do your filter maintenence without stepping on the track and damaging it?

Very nice.

Mikey,

The loop around the pond and filter system equals just over 100 feet of track.

karenj,

The track is quite sturdy being brass and the roadbed is made of wire reinforced concrete about 2 inches thick so the track can be stepped on without damage.

The "tunnel" by the filter system is actually the train "garage" where I can park the train without storing it in the shed.  The top of the "garage will lift off if I need to access the train inside.

The Orange Blossom special was a train that travelled between New York and Florida.  In the year of my birth, 1939, two fiddlers (Ervin Rouse and Chubby Wise) toured the train and were so impressed by it they wrote the tune.

Many have performed the song, but my favorite and the version I used was done by Billy Vaughn and released in 1961.

Her is what the train looked like:

I love garden railroads ever since I saw a number of displays at a greenhouse/landscape place in BC a number of years ago.  This weekend I had about an hour to wander around a model train show in Regina and they had a garden railroad set up there as well.  Right now I'm just an armchair railroader!  I'd like to have a garden railroad, but also one that you can ride around on plus something indoors.  I'm thinking, though, it won't ever happen.  I'll just have to enjoy the work of others instead.  8-)~
