Never had bananas get that far Jerry.
One thing so far this year though, maybe we just have not had much wind, but all my banana fronds (leaves?) are still in good shape - not all ripped up as they so often are.

Yeah mike I know. We have more wind here, but so far it's been calm. it won't last.

I think you cut them when they are green like that and let them hang and ripen. You might check with someone on the GW orchard site.

yep thats what the boxes ones at my walmart look like. green as ever! I cant imaigne how one would taste thats actually ripened in the soon.

We used to have a banana tree in our yard that produced fruit . . . and some papaya trees that gave us fruit too. Course that was when we lived in the Virgin Islands . . . . a very long time ago.

Lou Ann, it was cool when i made the post, but it was 85 here today. I may get lucky.
It is supposed to be an "El Nino" year which means a mild winter.

I got lots of banana's here to in KY. But you already know, that none rippened for me. There all dug up and stored now for the winter.
