My wife took me out to eat tonight to a great little restaurant near by. I went this morning while she was at work to the Williston Peanut Festival and had a walk around. I was broke so I didn't buy any roasted peanuts or peanut brittle but I looked at some Adirondack style chairs and got an idea from them. They were made from pressure treated lumber. I'm going to convert one of those canopy swings that a tree limb went through to wooden slats. I saw the young lady that is hosting our next meeting there with her family. It was a bit overcast but no rain.

Thanks everyone. After what happen to me last October, I thought that I wouldn't get to see this one. My grandfather, on my dad's side, died from liver cancer when he was 44 and when my dad reached that age, he worried that he would die at that age. Well, when I was put into the hospital last October for an irregular heart beat, I started worrying. Well, as of 10:00pm CST last night, I was 45 years old and releaved. Also, while I was in the hospital, they did an echo cardialgram and found that one valve was half the size as the other three. The cardiologist told me then that I would either need to lose weight, down to 200 lbs, or have surgery. I'm not fond of a knife or scapel cutting open my heart so I went on a diet. I ate the same foods but less of it. I started at 277lbs. When I went to the doctor wednesday, I had lost 47 lbs in thirteen months. I'm going to reach that 200 lbs. The doctor also told me that I needed to start doing crunches to tighten up my tummy. So I'm going to start doing that. I also stopped smoking. I feel better and look better and with not smoking, get more work done.

Congratulations Scott on your birthday AND everything you have been doing for your health!!!!  Quitting smoking is the BEST thing you could have done to prolong your life!  May you have 47 more!   @O@

Happy birthdays, both of you!  And congrats on the weight loss and smoking cessation!  I know that they're both hard to do!  If you haven't been exercising in a while, you may want to start out with a gentle streching routine.  Even a beginners' yoga could help get you going.  Good luck!

Glad you made it to another one Scott. Sometimes it takes a little extra KICK in the pants to motivate us, huh? Crunches huh? I don't know about those!!

I lost 20 pounds last winter but for some dumb reason, I get down to within 30 pounds of where I should be and come to a screeching halt. So all summer I have not been doing well in the weight loss area.

This was birthday #66. I can hardly believe it. I don't feel that old. We did absolutely NOTHING for my birthday. We are fixing up one of our rental units and spent the day working so by supper time I was too pooped to clean up and go out. We ordered Papa John's, delivered. LOL. Sunday after church, my dad and his wife took us to Perkin's for dinner. That was nice.
