Getty Villa

Our garden club visited the Getty Villa in Malibu today. This museum has been closed for renovation work for about ten years and recently opened again. Below is the south garden. It overlooks the Pacific, which is just under the tree line there somewhere….
This is the herb garden. It was very fragrant….
Here’s another herb garden inside the courtyard of the museum.
The bronze statues in the courtyard had these very eerie looking eyes that distracted ones attention from the statues. The docent said that during the renovation all the statues had been put into storage and the eyes were removed so as not to loose them. However, upon retrieving the statues from the storage warehouse they have yet been able to locate the eyes and these eyes were painted on them pending the re-discovery of the real eyes……

Nice photos Mike.
I always preferred this 'original; Getty to the over the top job gracing the hilltop. Always a bit of a challenge to park in Malibu though.
Cheers,
Mike

Anytime I see something screech across a room and latch onto someone's neck, and the guy screams and tries to get it off, I have to laugh, because what is that thing?

Um, Gee . . . . that's just exactly what my gardens look like!!! (Not!)
Gorgeous! I would sure like to live there . . . . with about a hundred servants, yardmen and gardners . . .

Those eyes are too funny! Definitely creepy. But the gardens are beautiful. That herb garden is fabulous.
