Our weather was/is wonderful yesterday 72', today 70" and supposedly good tomorrow. DH got started bringing up the pots and trimming down the marginals. I felt guilty letting him do it alone so eventually went out and began pruning the lilies. He even took a stiff bristle push broom and scrubbed the ledges and bottom. I put in lots of filter media and scrubbed it down again today and scooped the mulm several times today. It's looking good or sad. Well both. Poor fish don't know what to think.

Oh and we found a small frog in the little pond. I dumped the leaves back in it and hope the frog will winter under them. It doesn't have any fish in it.

I did mine a couple weeks ago.  Now I am dumping the skimmer nets twice a day, keeping up with the leaves.  It's supposed to get to 75 here today.  The leaves on the trees are beautiful.  My burning bushes are too!

Oh Esther, good for you and hubby to get the pond cleaned up.  Sounded like you guys are ready for old man winter.  I did that last Saturday and I'm in zone 6B.  Took me a good 4 hours to get most of the leaves out of the pond.  Trimmed all the lilies back, took the lizard's tail and other marginals back into the house as house plants.  My tiny little lotus pot is now in the indoor aquarium.  Cleaned out the muck in the DIY filter and also whatever I could scoop out from the pond.  Netted the entire waterfall and pond.  I'm all done and waiting for the big 'ol winter to come.  Fishies are still swimming around since the weather is still nice; in the 70s.  All that is going to change starting tomorrow night though.  The only thing left is to put the de-icer and bubbler in.  Turn the pump off and leave it in the skimmer.  I cleaned the pump last Sat too.  Well, I need to bag up the filter materials and store them away.  That's all.

I bet the fish are happy with the fall cleaning.  It was a beautiful day to get it done.  I did however on the weekend get a good vacuum done on the lily/goldfish pond and trim back all the remaining pads.  The koi pond got a so so vacuum, I was getting tired and it was getting late, I'll have to try again before closing down which we usually do on Thanksgiving weekend.
