Sometimes it Works
« on: October 17, 2006, 02:48:18 PM »
It is obvious to about anyone that has played with hybrids, that most seedlings are going to disappoint.  While they may grow to be a normal, robust plant; to anyone with a discerning eye, the characteristics they display are inferior to the parent plants.

Once every so often, you do get a seedling that has decidedly better characteristics than the parents.  This is one I've shown before, but it finally has decided to provide me with a viable tuber and there now exists more than one...so I'll show it again.  And it is another of the mop-headed types as a bonus.<g>

It is sterile, but to me that is a good thing.  No need to worry about those that don't understand basic plant genetics offering seed from it with the implication that you can expect the seedling to be nearly identical.

Anyway here she is....though still unnamed.  Hope you like.

I look forward to having her in my collection one of these days. Is this the one that had the white mop head bloom with very red pads that you called red and white?

Cheers,
Sean

Craig   That bloom is stunning.  Please see what you can do about propogating, putting
it on market.    Some of us would just about commit mayhem for plant that produces
bloom like that!!!        Marie
