First we have to shovel to get near it. Well I guess not as stepped into the doorway and aimed from there. The big bump to the right by the tree is the Skippy and waterfall. And you can see what a good job the DIY deicer is doing.

FinnPond, that is one pretty picture!  What are those "fairy bubbles" tumbling down from the sky?  Is that snow, or some weird lighting?

I'm sure that is snow in Dave's picture. We did have those huge fluffy flakes several times this week.

Never got out and took pictures yet this year, but then again it looks just like a snow covered yard with a couple small holes.  However we are in a warm spell since last night, I'm amazed at how fast  knee deep snow can melt and then today it has been off and on rain.......glad we have never had an issue with a wet/flooded basement.  Going to check the ph on the ponds because of the rapid snow melt.

Wow and here I was feeling sorry for some of my ponds because they got ice on them for a couple days....I would be worried to death if I had that much snow and couldn't see them....at least with ice I can still see them swimmin around on the bottom....All that being said....all that snow does make for beautiful pictures....

This is my former pond outside State College, PA.  It was 8' X 20' and from 2' to 4' deep.  It was just below the second-story deck.  The beams support the leaf net.  There's a hole kept open by an airstone and air pump.  In late Winter the ice would be up to 10 inches thick.  The path in the upper right is because we have short dogs.

Happy New Year,
Jim McD

Jim, we have to do the same for our little 9.5# Silky Terrier.
Today, she refused to go outside, even all bundled up with her snow boots on, because we are having gale force winds, snowing horizontally,
gets in her eyes and hurts. She just won't move if we pick her out and put her down outside. She shuts her eyes and starts shivering...and whining.
So we put pp pads in the garage, and she does her business there. 8)
What a princess!  ::)

Oh, burrrrr.  Those pics make me cold, but they sure are beautiful.

So far, we haven't had any measurable snow.  A couple slick days, a little ice.  Its been unseasonably warm here.  Strange weather.

We had a ton of snow when I first saw this post. My daughter had my camera at a sleepover, when she came home we had 50* temps and all the snow melted. Oh well. Flash flood warnings notwithstanding- didn't get any photos.

On the plus side, the little stream is clear and the birds are having a blast.

I've been very busy since this picture was taken so it took me a while to import and down-size my most recent pictures.     better late than never I guess.   It's all thawed and raining now.            Mike

Steve, Gigi absolutely refuses to put her paws down in snow.
Acts like it burns her, excruciating pain.

So we have to shovel the snow in paths out to a shoveled area in the yard where she can do her business.  8)
