I did see the news. I saw no ice on the river. They said all made it out successfully.
Joyce, I am guessing he avoided the city? Very fortunate.

It's not so hard to avoid the city...all the airports are on the outskirts/suburbs, not in the city....and rarely does the river freeze.
Maybe just around the edges at the shorelines if we have a cold spell, Canadian blast...damn those Canadians!
They hit a flock of Canadian Geese and blew out 2 engines. Damn those Candians again!
You'd think in the 21st century they could design an engine that can handle a goose strike.
Dumb ass engine designers!
It was very smart of him to choose the river for a soft landing. SMART man!

Exactly.
And it happens all the time, what is it going to take to get them to deal with the design problem?
A really bad fatal crash? Hasn't that already happened a few times due to birds?

I think you are right. Men design everything, so you have to take the good with the bad I guess. Women just like to complain about everything.
No real good and bad there though.

Sabin, Salk, Ford, Fulton, Watt, Edison, Whitney, Fermi, Einstein, Teller, Gutenberg and many more didn't do too bad.

The pilot is a former Airforce F-4 Fighter Pilot.
That experience no doubt helped him keep his cool and make the right decisions.
