They filmed a car commercial over on the next block a year or so ago.  Beemer or some other flashy car in the driveway of the million-dollar-new-construction-home-they-still-can't-sell-four-years-later.  It was nighttime, and they had strong lights and sheets to bounce the lighting they way they wanted it to.

A lady across the street came home from work and parked her nice-enough car in the driveway of her also-new-but-only-$450,000-home-they-also-still-can't-sell-after-three-years (she's renting). 

The film crew came over and asked her to move it, because they didn't want her low-rent vehicle showing up in their commercial.

Ah, Howell, that is the $60,000 question! 

When immigrants are new, of course, it's hard learn a new language, and it's comforting to have an environment that is familiar to them. 

But, come on - after a few years, they OUGHT to have TRIED to learn English.  But the more we Americans and our government cater to them, by putting just about everything in two or more languages (Vietnamese is big here in Houston, along with Spanish), the less reason they have to learn English, or to try to fit in.

On the other hand, you hear the stories of European immigrants not allowing their children to speak their native tongue, and of working very hard to learn and follow American ways.

Just my politically-uncorrect thoughts.

Yes, The Govt. does a disservice to immigrants and American citizens.  Howell has it right.
Last time I did this rant, it was strongly suggested I was racist.  Ended up deleting a thread that was getting nasty. ( we can recycle instead )

Folks coming here illegally drive down wages of their competition creating more poverty and needs for tax supported services.
Business wants cheap labor, Dems want votes, the church wants members.
Only the taxpayer is screwed!
I welcome immigrants, let them come in an orderly manner, legally.

Anyhoo, I think it is even easier for europians to move and speak that language because thay already know it.
In europe of what i have heard, they oughta know more languages besides theirs, so that gets easier whenever they move to the US.

I follow american ways, and I am not europian well somehow my ancestors were, but not anymore.

I am not racist but I am totally against illegal aliens. My wife, who is from England and speaks the Queen's English, had to pay thousands of dollars to come to this country to stay. For someone to sneak into this country and be able to get a job so that they can send or take the money back to their country to enrich their life or their family's life is totally wrong. It ought to be a crime punishable only by one method, firing squad. Don't deport them, they'll just come back again.

I think that I need a cold shower to cool off.

I was born in Philadelphia, then went to Mexico so my Mother could be with my father who had to wait a few years to come to America.  He also had people who would guarantee he would not be a burden on the state.
Howell, I was weaned on a Mexican goat.  I may even have photos of said goat.

PondmaninFL, I do not blame those aliens as much as I blame the Govements, when I say Governments I mean both(talking about my point of view of mexican that go there illegaly) seems to me that the mexican government just do not care about all those poor people moving north and suffering and I blame the american one by looking for cheap labor and keep helping them.
Even though now-a-days there are lots of illegals in the US and not just from mexico, so.
And yeah, my parents have to do lots of things to go further from the border, not meaning paying but they do have to show there are things that tight them to mexico, so the US govt knows they will go back to their country.

There is no doubt that the Governments bear a lot of blame.  Who can blame anyone for seeking a better life?
Mexico is very rich in natural resources.  The potential is there.

We have like tons of resources, but we have a really bad government, not to say we are screwed.
They just care for themselves and look for each other(the senate), their wages goes from $9,000 dlls a month, free of taxes of course, and still get free gas for their cars, free plan cellphones not just for them but their families(the average of mexicans owning a cellphone is high but not in a plan condition), and at the end of a really tired year for them an aguinaldo(something here in mexico that the workers get before x-mas starts, it is supposed to help with the x-mas spending time) of the minimum amount of $40,000 dlls. Oh how gracious!!!!
That is why the country is screwed, BTW there are 500 of them.
So if you ever thought america's government was bad, you will think differently.
You have no idea how mad I get by seeing this.
And the freaking Government still ask itself why the people they take care of are trying to seek for a better life, and risk their lifes sneaking illegaly into another country? we need a good government, I even had wished for the US to take over Mexico and build up a good country, BTW not in the bush mandate.
I just couldn't bear the thought of a Mexico more screwed than it is now.
And the president still showes his face screaming VIVA MEXICO!, come on.
Not to say that many of the politicians might be involved in some turbulent bussiness(narco) and get more money still, so you tell me, whose got the blame?
