The jpg will not go through as a picture only. It needs the html data on the page with it but separately pointing to it.
What you are looking for would probably be more in the way of a flash file.
I don't really do flash but have software that will get the basics done for me without the coding.
It to not something that most forums allow you to post though.
I'll work on something later tonight if I get the chance.

Perhaps Sean or El Jefe can chime in and let us know any other technical ways to put it up without having server side control.

Testing something

Okay, it works. I hunted down the format necessary to dynamically link a picture to a web file or address so that the link is live in the forum post.

After I post this to ensure that it flows okay, I will put a section in the tutorial section of the site.

However if it does not flow correctly, I will kill this post.

By the way, if you follow the link created from the Sarasota Koi banner, you will see the flash file I created as a test before you had decided on Joyce's banner.

If he wanted the banner on his page to be a flash file then maybe I would need the psd file with the layers but as it is I don't know that I need it.
I don't see how changing his banner to flash would necessarily enhance his site.
I was trying to find a workaround for our initial problem, that is what led me to flash.
Once I determined that flash could not be used on the forums it became unnecessary.
That is why I looked for alternative ways to accomplish the goal.
That led me to BBCode. But if you have checked out the tutorial you see that even that is not universal.
Some sites if set up with all of the BBCode options can even insert youtube and google video as well as dynamically resize pictures.

I just want to mention that max resolution on this forum is 700 X 700 pixels because most of our members still use 1024 X 768 resolution and photo's larger than this resolution change the shape and size of the forum default. If people that have larger wide screen profiles as I do would like, they can right click over an image and select view image which will open the image in a new browser window. They can view the original resolution in the new window at their computers optimal resolution if it provides them this higher resolution.

As for this forum, I keep user statistics that prove, 83.6 percent of the members have lower resolution monitors of 1024 X 768 so I keep the photo upload resolution within majority tolerance.

I never meant to single anyone out but high resolution photo's over 700 X 700 pixels stretch the screen so much that most members need to scroll over to see it all without the limits I have set forth. If you would like to make sure your photo's are not distorted by this forum, take the time to reduce them to a maximum resolution of 700 pixels. This is still a very high resolution and fairly quick loading even for members with dial up.

Jim, I don't know anything about any of this but I suspect Sean knows the size of the pictures most of us post. Does that have anything to do with the actual size of the monitor? My pictures are the size they are on here because of Photobucket.

Our provider includes a tool that gives me user statistics of everyone who logs in. It does not tell me the size of your monitor, what it does do is tell me your IP Address, Hostname, Country, State, Hub City, Timezone, Browser, Operating System, Screen Resolution and Referrer.
