That's very nice and I love the way you stacked all the flat stone to make a long waterfall. It all looks just lovely. Your fish will be very happy.

Thank you!
We arranged the rocks about 50 million times to get the water to spread like we wanted it!

Here's a link that is helpful for a bog filter.

http://www.nelsonwatergardens.com/data/resources/other/1_Bog%20Filter%20Construction.pdf

I don't have the space for it, but looks like you have plenty of room in that huge yard.  Your pond looks great.  O0

For what it's worth, that's going to be a real dirty job to clean when it's needed. Plus all the bad bacteria, and odors of hydrogen sulfide it will produce, if you plan on returning that bog filtered water to the pond. I'd recommend a better and much easer to maintain Anoxic filter pond. You get to have all the plants, minus all that gravel.

Thanks everyone for all the kind words!!

I got some of Kat's goldfish a couple of weeks ago and they have been living in a 100 gallon waiting for the pond to cycle!
Well it happened today! @O@ So they went swimming in their new home!
It's 31 inches deep
And we built a separate tank that we are going to pump and have a spillout.....I'm going to put some planted bog plants....without the gravel, I have heard some good and bad things about that.
And if it's bad.....it's gunna happen to me!
Thank you for the compliments on the waterfall.....but I can defiantly say that I was in tooooo big of a hurry to use my brain....and I didn't rinse the rock before  {:-P;; and had to vacuum the mess out today! Ohh well you live and learn!
And it's only one lilly in each pot (Thanks to Kat again!  ;)

Brandy, we all have done something like that so don't feel bad.  I bet those goldfish are exploring every bit of their big new home.  Have they come up for food yet?

Annette .... wait til she sees my tropicals in bloom.  I wonder if she'll be able to resist getting some {:-P;; :)

Brandy, there is a difference between a bog and a bog filter.  A plain old bog can be a muddy, smelly mess.

But a properly installed bog filter will put clean, fresh, healthy water into your pond, and give you beautiful, healthy plants and shallow water for birds and toads.  In fact, it can be used to filter your entire pond.

It's all a matter of plumbing.  Read that link above, from Nelson's Water Gardens.  They use bog filters to filter ALL their ponds, and their place is gorgeous and perfectly clean - even the one that's way overstocked with fat, fat koi that get fed a zillion times a day by visitors plunking down 25c for a handful of feed from the machine.

Do I see 2 new boxes?  I'm guessing the one is for a bog filter & the other is for regular garden plants?  The Star decorations are so TEXAS  O0

Yes mam'
I planted Lavander and Pinkies in the planter.
And then the "bog" is hooked up to run the skimmer and makes a pretty big trickle that the fish like to play in. I'm going to add bog plants in pots.......I have my Holy Fire in there right now!  ;)
