Danged Oak Leaves and Tree Pollen!!
« on: March 23, 2009, 01:32:40 PM »
Have to keep skimming the pond, and the water is turning brown.  If this pollen keeps falling, the water will be a true GREEN - just like the cars and sidewalks all over Houston.

I hear ya sista!  I don't even have oat trees but my neighbor's oak trees always found our pond.  With the wind blowing at 40 mph, all the flower petals are now in my pond as well.  Thank goodness I cleaned the pond yesterday and turned on the waterfall so the skimmer can do its job.

I also put 5 lbs of activated charcoal (in a laundry mesh bag) in the skimmer to clear the tea color from the oak leaves.

Good luck to your pond skimming.  It sure is hard work.

We have the oak leaves as well. Along with the spent oak and pine blooms and the pine pollen. The cars all have yellow tops.
Happy ponding,

If you think that your question is dumb, imagine how totally stupid you will look if you don't ask it.
