I decided to expand my pond! I started to dig at noon today and it is filling with water as we speak. According to all of the calculator things it should bi in the 2700 gallon range. A lot better than the 1000 gallon before. I will post pics soon

Makes me want to get out there and dig too but it's just too cold for me yet! I'd love to see pictures.

congrats.. you sound so much lke me.. I will just wake up one day and say i want bigger or another and I do ...most the time I end up wishing I had put more thought into all mine

well that calculator was a little off I ended up with 2370 gallons but that is still better than what it was before

Wow that is really looking good. Hope you post more pics as it goes. I love seeing all these new ponds people are building and what they plant around them. Tis exciting to say the least!

I got most of the rock placed today. Tomorrow I am going to start on the bog filter. The fish seem to be a lot happier also

That looks really nice. And if those are 8' sections on your fence then your pond is pretty big too. You sure do work fast!

Was it hand dig or machine? Either way, you sure got it done quick.

If you have koi, it will be a great home for them.

I dug it with a machine it is the only way to go. My DW is not happy with me right now because she didn't think it was going to be that big. I got most of the rock layed out today for the water fall. I will finish the falls tomorrow and seal it as long as it doesn't rain.

RWinn, your wife will probably enjoy it trememdously even if she thinks it's big right now. Whe we built our first one I was thinking just a small garden accent pond, but DH said if we are doing it we might as well go big...it ended up about 24X13 I loved it and now we have 2 more also...It looks great

and once you get the lanscaping done how can one not like it.

This most of the way done with the falls the area in the back is for the bog. It is 7'x3' and 20" deep I am going to fill it 2"- round rock. Then later on in the spring when my local pond store starts selling plants I will fill it up.

The falls will look great and with the large bog that will give you some nice filtration.
