"IN THE CHIPS"
« on: May 05, 2009, 06:33:40 PM »
Most big cities in California offer free wood chips.. Bananas seem to love "em.  Also keeps weeds down and can be very nice on pathways.  I have no truck these days, but a BIG barrel works ok, just more trips.  It's good exercise too.  The chips are light enough so i can manhandle a 50 Gallon contaimer into  the back of my Prius
by the way, I have never seen anyone there, ever.

You must live in a big city!  We do not have any free...anything from our area.  :D

I just bought 6-2 cu.ft. bags of medium mulch and managed to get a pinched nerve in my back.   >:(-  :'(

Nice to get them for free.  Our city charges for the mulch they make from all the wood products that people bring in to dispose of.

There is never enough room for all of the water lilies that I want ;-)

My DH bought a chipper as we have tree branches that fall down every year and ones that need cutting also. I discovered that they work great around the line of Arborvitae's along the street to keep down the weeds. Hoorah for the chipper or I'd be off spending good money on store stuff
