Photo tour of Hulda Klager Lilac Garden

This garden in Woodland WA surrounds an old farmhouse. Hulda Klager hybridized lilacs. It was kind of a crappy day.

Looking at those pics, I can inhale deeply and almost smell them!  Fresh in my memory as ours just bloomed about a month ago.  Thanks for bring that back with the great photos!

Thank you for all the beautiful photos from your visit to the Gardens.  Only wishing there was a scratch and sniff on the lilac photos!  :o  And they still have tulips!  Enjoy your garden visits!

I went to a small town in north San Diego county called Julien a few weeks ago and they had so many lilac bushes everywhere I felt I was in lilac heaven.  I have only killed 3 lilac bushes that were supposed to be able to grow in my zone (not).

Have you tried 'Miss Kim' ? She is a Korean lilac and will grow in Phoenix so must grow in Southern California.

Nice photos of some very interesting Lilacs, LeeAnne. I planted many lilacs here but none were labeled correctly. They were ugly pale lilac weedy looking things that ended up in compost pile. The only nice one was a sucker I got from the neighbour's place. It's a beautiful rich red purple. I would love to get new ones. They are pretty and smell so wonderful.

Maryvonne, during the Lilac Days festival they have at least 30 varieties available in 3" pots for $5, next year I can send you some or anyone else some. I bought a couple this year and they've already doubled in size not going to bloom for a few years but the selection of varieties is the best I've ever seen. There was a cool variegated one that I've never seen before.

The most fragrant was Mt. Baker which is the white one totally covered with blooms in the photos.

Thanks for the compliments on the photos. I did take pictures of the name tags and will try to get them all labeled.
