Had to give up Florida Sunset
« on: June 04, 2009, 05:46:37 AM »
I got in some new hardies last year & this spring, so I've got to make some hard choices on which lilies to let go.  Florida Sunset, Peaches & Cream, & Pink Grapefruit are all so similiar.  I've met a really nice man via Craigslist that is try to stock his 2 ponds, so I sold him my huge parent Florida Sunset with 4 buds.  He was quite pleased to see how big the plant was.  Now I need to decide which other ones need to go.

Peaches & Cream vs Pink Grapefruit
Pink Ribbon vs Mayla--waiting to see which one blooms more

I really should let some others go, the ones that don't bloom as much but it is so hard  {:-P;; ;) :)

Give up lilies?  Kat, this whole thing is so silly.... Just go and build another pond or two!  Then you can keep all the plants you want!! ;D  I know you have plenty of room in your yard for another pond.   lol

Don't I wish, LOL  :D  I'm at my limit & hubby is happy that he doesn't have to build any more ponds  :o ::)

I completely understand. Its hard to give some of them the boot but one only has so much room. ;)
I booted James Brydon, Burgundy Princess and Cypriana last fall because they simply will not bloom.
As much as I would like to keep adding tanks to make room for all of them, I'm just up against the wall for time. It becomes such a major undertaking to repot with so many so I'm trying to weed things down to my absolute favs as well. :)

Kat I like Pink Grapefruit better than Peaches/cream....PG is the first to bloom-has huge blooms, leaves are much more molted,and blooms more often for me...
Can't tell you about Mayla and Pink Ribbon--I just got PR this year....

I really like the PG I got from you.

Julles, her yard is maxed out as it is! Well, that's the back yard. There is an entire front yard... ;)

You are right.  P & C is a nice lily, no doubt, but I'll end of keeping PG because it is one of the first hardies that I ever bought by ordering from a catalog, Slocums in Florida.  I'd had been getting their catalogs since I was a teenager & it sure was exciting to me to finally order something, LOL.  :)

Jessica, I wish I could put something in the front yard but there is no way with the shade or the worry of some kid falling into the water/stealing.  So I guess I'll just have to start switching a few lilies around every year to satisfy my needing something new  {:-P;;

Kat, I am in the same boat with pink grapefruit and Barbara Dobbins. I really can't get rid of BD because I have had her so long. She has always thrived, even with every move within Florida and now to TX!
