your unlikely to find a real Leopardess. ultra violet isn't available till 2010--although you could go to the IWGS symposium in mid July and bid on one.

The rest should be fairly easy to locate.

a lepordess -  almost none on the market are the real deal. Most are seedlings that have diluted what is available unless from a really big outfit like F.A.N. that does a good job of keeping the lines clean.
I just got 2 plants about 3 weeks ago from them but will have to propagate them before I can afford to release any.
See my page on Leopardess to see what I mean...http://www.internationalwaterlilycollection.com/The%20Plants/TropDay/leopardess.html
The pink one Frank showed is a hybrid created by Garet Uemura of HI. He crossed N. Leopardess with N. Star of Siam to create the pink lily Frank posted.

ultra violet - Not releasing until next year and then only through brokers that F.A.N. deal with. There is one up for auction at the IWGS Symposium in Chicago next month. Brad is also going to release some to the IWGS next year as a separate fundraiser for the IWGS so if you are a member it might be a chance to get one then.

southern charm - I just got a couple of these from F.A.N.

colorata -  I have this.

white colorata - Hard to get a hold of. I have been trying for over a year. Twice I have gotten it and it was the regular blue version.

woods white knight - I have this also, not quite blooming yet, a couple more weeks probably.

BTW,
'Southern Charm' is really cool.
It has more blue and purple in it than 'Green Smoke' even on the 3rd day.

The pic below is of a 2nd day flower just before the sun went down.
This lily has a long bloom time for me in Houston. It opens a little later in the day than some other tropicals but makes up for it by closing later as well.

'Missouri' is hard to find or expensive.
It does not form multiple tubers the same way as 'Woods White Knight'.
It is however a superior plant specimen in my personal opinion.
Much larger plant and flower.
The pads alone are worth the view as they are very undulated against the water.
Check it out...

I have to think that if white colorata is hard to find, it is because it is a fairly nondescript lily that never caught on.  I've had it since I think it was just after the 2002 symposium; offered it for sale a few years and there was not enough interest to justify the space.  The same happened with ampla and other species I offered, so now I just keep enough for my own uses.  I have been known to trade, but I'm admittedly fussy and won't even consider adding a lily to my collection that does not have provenance.  No better way I can think of to taint a collection.

Tim....your not saying that is a third day bloom on 'Southern Charm' are you?

'Missouri' or 'Wood's White Knight'...here are pictures of both to help you decide. 'Missouri' is a spectacular lily, but does get large and isn't the rabbit that 'WWK' is.  Which may explain why it is harder to come by.  But in my estimation, it is quality over quantity.

No that pic was a 2nd day bloom late in the day. I guess I should have pointed that out... I'll fix the post so it seems correct to others.
I just meant that it held it's color through it's flowering cycle better for me than say N. 'Green Smoke'.
By the 3rd day here smoke is pretty light in color.

I have found Missouri but the going price was $50 or more so I have not ever acquired one.
I do think that if someone has the space for just one and cost were not an issue I would definitely go with N. 'Missouri' over 'Wood's White Knight'.

I have been trying to get the white colorata as I described above but each time I got the blue form.
Just based on the published Anecphya crosses it seems more beneficial or at least helpful in creating an intersubgeneric cross.
That is the reason I have been trying to get a hold of one.
Does it make multiple tubers easily like the blue form?
Whenever you get 'Ambrosia' up to size I am going to get some from enzo. He says he might be coming out your way soon.
If he does, could you see if you have any extra white colorata for him to broker in the deal to me?

BTW Craig, what form of ampla do you use in your hybridization?
Mine is from lower Mexico / South America region. I have been trying to find the Jamaican form for a while.
It is supposed to be about the biggest form of the plant.

I'm completely ignorant of retail pricing, but I know at the grower level, I've never seen 'Missouri' listed at a premium.  One grower I know is going to, or has, pulled it from his list due to poor sales.  Seems everyone claims to want something new, but always opt for the more well known name and in this case it is really short sighted, imo.

Well, I don't consider them different forms as much as sources of varying germ plasm, but as far as ampla goes, I use the Mexican one, one from a Florida collection and in the recent shipment I did get some specimen from one of the Carribean Islands.<g>

White colorata tubers just as abundantly as the blue, which is why I'm surprised to hear it is scarce.

But I'm on my way out the door to head to St Louis, so I hope Lorenzo isn't planning on coming too soon.<g>

white colorata has pads about 4 inches and the blooms are 2.5 - 3 inches.
I always keep a few in my pond.

I grew Missouri in the mud pond.
Flowers were EASILY dinner plate size, pads 18-24" wide. Blossoms were very succulent and waxy looking, and slightly fragrant.
Great thing about the pads is that they are extremely serrated at the edges, way more than any other tropical I have grown,
to the point of looking like exaggerated saw teeth. The serrations do not lay flat on the water, but ripple up and down,
so looking horizontally at the pads, is a very 3D effect. (doen't show in these pix taken from above)

Hi Tim,

I checked on the white colorata and at this point I don't feel I have enough to be comfortable getting off any.  I don't know if you are familiar with Carlos Magdalena at Kew Gardens and the work he has done in intersubgeneric crosses, but  I asked him and he uses the normal colorata in his work, so I doubt there is anything magic about the white.  Besides...if everyone was using white, the logical thing in my mind to do in hopes of getting something different would be go with the normal.<g>

Also, I hear congrats are in order.  I think it was Tish that told me you are now the editor for the iwgs journal. when I asked who to consider submitting an article to.  Again congrats.

I ordered a Leopardess from ewaterlily a few years ago that ultimately came from FAN. It was a purple seedling, definitely not the real deal. Just my 2 cents!! This is the 'Leopardess Imposter' I received.

I should have mentioned this was at least 5 years ago and Sandy at ewaterlily sent me replacement plants that really were what they should have been. The problem was with the grower in this case. If it's a pretty old variety, it is probably unlikely to find the real deal.
