The first picture is standing directly in front of my house from the road! My little helper was really tired and being a little goofy!

That was almost immediately after we were done!

The second picture is after I tweaked things a little bit! It's not level, and I hated the liner showing on the side closest to the house, but it's just something I'm going to have to deal with! I'm thinking of putting the waterfall there, so it will camoflauge it!

Since my hubby built the skippy filter for me, I decided I wanted to make a small waterfall for the water to go back into the pond! I have NO idea how to do that! My filter is out of a 20 gallon Rubbermaid tub with the shower floor drain type of output....looks like a stubby PVC pipe coming out the side! I do have an extra pond liner that I can use, so that won't be a problem, and I can get some rocks since I live in a very rural area!

I keep trying to build it in my mind, etc., and I think I'm just putting TOO much thought into it....I don't know! I had so many problems getting the filter right....this PVC was wrong...that tubing didn't fit....etc., and now that's done, I was so happy....until I started brainstorming the waterfall! My hubby works a lot and my 18 year old son just doesn't really care what it looks like! I'm seriously to the point where I'm just ready to fill the whole thing in because I feel like no one cares about my happiness! :'(

I just have a little 500 gallon pond (approximately) and all I want is a small waterfall, but I'm just not that creative when it comes to things I could use to do so!

Hope someone here can help me out!

Oh yeah....another question....my pond is in the front yard directly in front of my front porch! Would I do the waterfall facing the house, so we can see it or facing the road, so others can see it??

Congratulations on you and your Hubby getting your Skippy built. Welcome to the best group of ppl on the net.! As far as which way the WF faces toward house or away towards street is entirely up to you. My waterfall is facing the house where I can set at my table and look at it while drinking coffee or eating. Another nice thing about facing the house is if you open a window there is a very soothing sound.
Waterfalls are not to hard to construct depending on what you desire the finished product to be. If you have a camera and could take a picture and post will be much easier to give directions on how to go about building . If you dont have a camera maybe you could describe your pond and surrounding area a little better. I am sure you will get plenty of feed back once we are a little more familar with your pond.

Hello there, congrats on getting your skippy done. You water fall creation will be largely dependent on what your skippy looks like and where it is in relation to your pond. How high above your pond is probably the most important unless you want to add another pump.

My pond in Florida was in the front yard and I put the water fall on the side to where it was seen from the house and the road. Pics are great.

Hi Karla I have a 500+ gal pond for my koi. It used to have a cascading stone waterfall with the bio filter outlet coming out near the top of the box. If I find the photo I will post it again. I took the stone out last weekend to make room for growing koi.

View for everyone if it is convenient is great!

There are a number of ways you can make a waterfall. Have you checked out some of AP member Carlos (spanishleprachaun) fabulous designs? You can get many ideas from him to design your own. Good Luck!

Mine is in the front yard too right in front of our porch. Here is a picture but I don't have the greatest camera in the world. The falls are on the side so you can see it kinda from the porch and the entrance way also. I just built up rocks around the filter to hide it and that's about it. Course I changed it about a million and a half times til I liked it and who knows I may change it again.

I think I remember your pond from an earlier post.

My pond photo from last spring found! It's pie shaped and cornered by walls. The filter box is sitting on the wall and the stone waterfall in front. Stone tile hid the box and I had potted plants on the box lid. At one time I had plants growing in the filter box but that got too crazy.

Removing the water fall and going back to original design of having water pouring out of 2 wall outlets. Need to find proper spouts now.

Thanks for photos of your pond. Looks wonderful! Love your helper . Bet she has a ball at the pond.

No sense in getting all worked up about it trying to build in your mind. I built my Wf about 5 years ago and just the other day did some more tweaking to it. Ponds are a never ending project that is part of the fun,

DO you want the WF to come directly from the skippy into the pond at ground level? Do you have any axcess to some dirt or cement blocks that you can elevate the skippy? These are a couple questions to ask your self. Once you have answered these. Then you can get started . Maybe your Hubby will see how much fun you are having and pitch in .

If not. There are many women who have built beautiful ponds on here themselves . Tinkster is one that comes to mind. That has a great pond and WF.

Yes, I do have access to bricks and rocks! I do and then re-do landscaping projects all the time, so I have lots of both!

Oops....I have access to cement blocks, too! And, yes, I'd like it to go from the skippy straight to the pond! I want some kind of drop off, though, so that the water splashes into the pond! When I was playing around yesterday and today, every time I had the water splashing back into the pond, the fishies immediately came over and started playing around! It was so cute!

The easiest way is to take dirt and build up a pile as high as you would like the waterfall to be . Shape the pile into the route you would like the water to run. Set your skippy at the top of the pile. Lay your piece of liner over the dirt and into the pond. Start your skippy make sure the water is running the way you would like. Turn off the skippy.Then start at the bottom and start laying rocks in the WF the way you would like . I would suggest you wash the dirt off the rocks before you build, Will not get as much dirt in pond this way. After you have all stone in use that spray foam to seal crevices in between rock . Let dry. Then turn on skippy. Posistion stone any where touching up is needed. Set back and enjoy!

If you dont have dirt just use same procedure but build a set of steps from bricks and block instead of pile of dirt.

Your pond looks great! A waterfall would be a wonderful addition! Since you live in a rural area you may be able to get dirt from around you and build up the one end for your waterfall and find more rocks like the ones around the rest of the pond. As far as connecting to what you already have I'm afraid I can't help, I'm sure someone on here will! Here are a couple pics of mine, maybe you can use for ideas and just use the same rock you have around the rest to hide the waterfall....I think it would look nice! It could be small or big, either would look great I think! Good luck!

The dirt is going to be a problem, but I do have lots of bricks and stuff like that! I can hunt around hubby's shed out back and look for things....gimme some ideas!

What if I just put a piece of some kind of wood under the liner to make a slope?

Just give me some ideas of things that I would find outside, and I'll find it.....except dirt! Hmmm....I can find JUNK but I can't find dirt....something wrong with that, huh?

No, it didn't, but I don't think I winterized it properly! I've already told myself that I'll be searching the boards and possibly asking questions when it comes that time again!

My daughter got me a Lowe's gift card for Mother's Day, so I bought a couple with that, along with 2 other plants, but only 1 lilly is doing anything! I took the other one back, along with one of the others I bought because it wasn't doing anything! The 2 I'm left with are doing good! The lily has a flower on it, and I think the other one is Pickerel Rush that is slowly growing!

I'm glad to see your reply.....I hadn't seen any posts of yours and wondered if you were still on the boards! Hope you're having a great summer! I have a new grandson that was just born May 7th and then the 2nd granddaughter is 15 months, so I'll have even more help come next summer!

Most of my lilies aren't blooming as well this year since I divided them. They are off to a slow start. I have some yellows and Colorados that I didn't divide. They are blooming like gangbusters. I even have a plant I grew from a seed pod last year that has a nice pink bloom on it this morning.

I haven't been posting cause my computer had gotten so slow I can't download pictures anymore. I had wireless installed yesterday so I can look at everybody pics though.

I'm in zone 6 and I just leave them in the bottoms of the larger stocktanks. Even with a couple of inches of ice on them sometimes they have all survived so far.

My newest granddaughter was born January 7...the first will be 6 next Friday.
