New Lily Pond and Almost-New Koi Pond Pics
« on: June 29, 2009, 09:10:10 PM »
Here's my new 8 x 5 x 2 lily pond. Just about everything in it came from the incredibly-wonderful people on this forum. The fountain just drops back in on itself -- no splash to upset the lilies.

That shot is from a bridge over the koi pond's vortex and skimmer. When I do a 180 turn and put my back to the lily pond, this is the view of the 15 x 15 x 4 koi pond just finished last fall...

It's having a wee algae problem as I need a new UV bulb. The ponds are not connected and do not share filtration so I was free to use composted manure and fertilizer for the lilies. This project has taken about two years and 10x the budget.

View from the kitchen window.

I love it -- I'd better because I can't afford to change it now!

Your ponds are unbelievably beautiful.  I don't know how you can wrench yourself away from them.  I would spend all my time just watching the fishies. :D

Amazing!  I love the stone work.  Heck, you could go swimming in that koi pond!

Amazing!  I love the stone work.  Heck, you could go swimming in that koi pond!

I designed the deck and ponds, made the plans and hired 'muscle'... who was way out of his league on this. After 18 months, he walked out with one row of that brickwork laid (crooked and sliding into the pond), the filtration unfinished... actually not one single thing was completed except the cashing of my checks. Tapped out financially and emotionally, I learned how to cut and glue PVC (that primer was a death knell for my gel nails), lay stone (patio and wall) -- heck I can now even vulcanize rubber.

Ixnay on the wimmingsay -- I've done everything I can to establish that this isn;t a swimming pool and does not fall under city swimming pool building codes.

That is simply stunning!! o(:-)  Cool and inviting and just gorgeous.  I have serious pond envy, I love the pots with lilies as well.  Really nice work.  You deserve to be very proud of it.

Your ponds are some of the most beautiful I've seen. They have such clean lines and  are cool looking, and inviting. I just love the decking, lilies and koi. Thank you for sharing.

Wow, I don't know if I could learn all that and make it work.  You must be incredibly talented!  Did you ever get your money back from the "muscle"?
My next female cat will be called "Whata Lily"!
