Sand and gravel filter the the bottom drain goes to. I am trying to find an external pump for the for the s/g filter, I can't seem to find anything except in our town except a swimming pool pump, anyone use one or know anyone who does?

I'm no expert, perhaps John will chime in here but you will have large particulate matter and lots of fish poop moving through that pump. I don't think a swimming pool pump would be built to stand up to this. You can have a good pump shipped to you for a lot less than the cost of replacing a pump that was not made for that purpose. I have heard a lot about the Oase pumps.

you dont want to use a swimming pool pump, they are energy hogs.my swimming pool pump uses 1500 watts.i have a performance pro 1/4 hp 4900 gal/hr.and uses 300 watts.you have to keep the pond pump going 24/7.
