Moon Dance Anyone?
« on: July 13, 2009, 07:48:35 PM »
This hardy is called Moon Dance...
(Thank you joeyb5980,...and I miss you! Please start posting again!)
I love the bright red stems of the pads...

You can see the red stems here...

Knocked over by the wind...still pretty!

It was really windy when I took this, and you can see the wind 'blur'.

Is the tropical an Ostara?  Great pics!
My next female cat will be called "Whata Lily"!

I can't remember which ones I have planted in that tub.  :-\
It's a 24" wide tub, 12" deep, and there are 3 tropical lilies in it,
cuz I was lazy and I was in a rush because I wanted to get it done before my surgery.
I know Craig sent me an Ostara, and a few others.
But I also got a few from Kat too.
And there are a couple I yanked outta Savannahs pond when I was there, but I know they are in separate pots.
My memory SUCKS since chemo...and I really should start writing stuff down.
I just gotta remember to write it down!  ::)  ;)  lol

The red stems are remarkable. :)  o(:-)

The only white I have is Gonnere (unfortunate name). Its been a disappointment so far. Great heaps of leaves - but itsy bitsy flowers that bloom in the morning and are gone by noon. It photos well, but the reality is a lot less than the photos I had seen.
:(

I don't have that tropical - unless its a "from pond" variant.  @O@

Ostara is pink so that is not it.
It seems too light for Foxfire and too much color I think for Avalanche.
Did you get some of his other's that are not released yet?
I have seen pix that resemble that.
Hopefully he will chime in and lock it down.

Savannah, I didn't like Gonnere either.     Grew it when I lived in NC...gave it away after 3 years of mediocre growth and blooms.
Then I grew the Madame Wilfron Gonnere and that was a lot prettier...light pink with white petal tips.

And in person, the red stems on Moon Dance are a lot more vivid and stand out, very thin and wirey.

Lynne, I had the same song in my head too.  8)

Tim, I hope Craig will chime in too.  (8:-)

Beautiful. O0
I miss Joey posting too. :-\

Gonnere does o.k. for me but it isn't the most productive lily in the pond that's for sure. I also like M.W. Gonnere better, its a better bloomer.

Vickie,

I think you are right. I had forgotten that one... the colors are right for that one.

Pads are wrong for 'Midnight Embers', ME pads are speckled and not mottled.  I'm guessing, based largely on the fourth picture, that it is an 'Ostara' and the color is off.  The pads look like 'Ostara' and if you look in the background, there is a properly pink bud in the picture.

Joyce ,
You always have such beautiful flowers. I always admire how clear your pictures are. What kind of camera do you use?

Thanks everyone! 8)

I know Craig sent me Ostara...and the pads next to the bloom don't necessarily belong to the bloom because 3 lilies are in the one 24' pot.

Savannah's lilies are not in this pot but in separate 12' pots about 6' away from this pot to the North.

Thanks Lawanna, I'll keep your offer in mind.  :)

mcp...right now I am using a $69.00 Radioshack managers special, it's an Olympus FE-120, 7.1 megapixels, with image stabilization.
Was the demo model, discontinued. I was on a job and my big Nikon D200 died  :'( so the Radioshack was 5 minutes away. I ran in, ran out with a camera,
and back to the job in less than 20 minutes. I don't think anyone noticed I was gone, they figured I was walking around taking pix. ;)
Pretty dammmm good for a cheapo pocket sized camera!  O0 But I also use ALL the functions, read the manual, used trial and error and also use the meter properly,
use manual white balance, and think about my composition/lighting before I take a pic. I can also crop down pix for a better comp too.
And it's all about lighting. Basically, never, ever take pix into the sun unless you are going for that lens glare, washed out look.
Keep the sun at your back or over one shoulder. As long as it is coming from behind you or from the side and lighly behind you.
Natural light is the best. In full sun, I often use the flash to illuminate the shadows better.
I take every shot with at least 2 different settings, often many more using both auto and manual settings.
Then when I am downloading, I choose the best shot.  8)
