Lord knows I hate to waste lily blooms but some times it just has to be done.  These blooms were from lilies heading out of the country and inspections are easier on both ends if you remove flowers, them being insect attractors and all.

If there is a bright side, I should  be glad that it wasn't hotter weather when the tropicals are blooming even more prolifically.<g>

Now that is truly a shame . . . . a very sad picture, indeed.  There are those of us who would kill to have just a couple of those in our ponds . . . . .

I was thinking the same thing on Monday when I finally cut down all the pads and buds on my pots before lowering them to the bottom of the pond where they will spend the winter.  Made me sick to see how many blossoms I could have had.

I knew you are in the business but I didn't realize by how much you are into the business........  How large an area is dedicated for growing?

Hi Mikey,

I don't know I'm so much "in the business" as on the fringes....we are small potatos.<g>

As it stands now, I have about 5000 sq ft of pond area, but I have the luxury here to double or even triple crop them.  And I have another 2500 sq ft of liner sitting out there daring me to do something with it.<g>

For marginal stuff, there is probably also about 5000 Sq ft, but it is split up into several shadehouses and I'm too tired to do the math to get an exact figure.

I should be able say I'm tired from wrestling liner, but truth be told....it's muzzleloader season, so work has actually been ignored this week while I lurk in the woods.<g>

Gee... its too bad you cannot make wine out of those flowers.. LOL... really.. My ponds are shut down now. The Deer don't seem to mind bubbles coming up from pumps in the ponds. Just wish they would leave the new tree's instead of having them for lunch. Ponds in the country life and deer seem to go together. I will be starting a Lotus and Lilly growing section next year. Not shipping out of country. Just local support and only hardy stock. They are all so pretty and its good to grow and share..

I've had less blooms than that in all the years I've been ponding (almost 10) combined!

Do you still have them, Craig? Seems they would have made quite a stunning bouquet.  (8:-)
