Frost in July, the summer that wasn't
« on: July 16, 2009, 08:51:52 AM »
Outrageous, i live in northwest Connecticut and at a elevation of 1500 feet. we had frost last week and some spots in northern mass had light snow. all my tropicals have gone into shock with the pads glowing a orange and red. i am sure the plants are fine, however i do not have one bloom on them. the last time this happened was during the summer of 1878 when the northeast had snow into july. Of course, i don't remember that :)

its a lost summer. bummer

Man that is not good at all.
Did you have any new material coming up that you were watching for first blooms?
If so I hope they faired okay.

Joyce, it is now "Climate Change", didn't you hear...

...and forget Hawaii, you would miss the change of seasons; besides, if you went, that would drive up property values over there even more, and how will I be able to afford it when I move there?!!!

And I married a Tammie, too bad she lives in NC!

WOW - when I read the title I thought you lived in a place like northern Canada or Alaska (I've lived there), or some southern hemisphere country that is SUPPOSED to get frost now!!!  I never thought you lived only about and hour or 2 from where I live!!!  I am so sorry you are having that kind of summer.  While we have also had a much cooler summer than usual, we haven't gotten that cold - yet!  It was about 50 the past several nights though.

And yet today it is 84 "real feel is 89" right now and it feels like 200% humidity.  My husband hasn't turned on the switch outside for the AC yet, so I am sitting with a fan on the floor blowing me away.

Can I hitch a ride along to Hawaii pretty please??? 8-)~

OK, here is the plan, i have rented a Boeing 757 which will hold several hundred people and we are going to pay tammie a visit. can we all fit in one room?

talking to a local corn farmer today and his corn is usually on the stand the first part of july with the early corn. he said that he does not expect to see any corn until august 15 and the first killing frost will be middle of september.

Tim... nothing new to speak of, i am growing out some seeds that are several years old, will be interesting to see what i get. they are from the batch that i got Raspberry Sorbet from.

Louis and Joyce, you must stop by Los Angeles for a pit stop and ME!  :D   ;D

We had a rather cool spring with the "climate change" and did not see any buds open until about 2 weeks ago!  Many buds just melted away first.  :'(  I'll try to send some of our heat now your way.  8)

It's 89* and super humid today!  You all can't fit in the one bedroom, but I have a few empty horse stalls you're welcome to!  Louis has first dibs on the bedroom, Joyce can have the full size bed in the old entry way - lot's of great breezes in there!  Okay, I still have the couch and a couple of chairs open...

It's been very nice here. The high in the upper 80's to low 90's with rain sometime during the day. Low 70's at night. :)
Happy ponding,
