My hair, my hair. What have i done? A bonehead stunt.
« on: July 22, 2009, 05:07:05 AM »
So my barber, Maria says,"your hair is so nice, ya know, we can make the  salt & pepper look more striking."  "Oh really" I asked.
I am auditioning on Thursday for a role that seeks an older guy with salt & pepper hair.

So in all my brilliance I said "Okay, do it!"
I now have a head of dark hair, just stupid looking!  A few wisps of gray, but not much.
I will call her today and ask if this can be undone or improved. >:(-
A lesson learned.. :'( :'( :'(

My wife asked if i was ever gonna take off my cap.   I did and you can imagine her remarks. >:(-

Well, it does grow back

LOL ok I can, but you will probably like it.  I look like an old dude trying to look young.
I see that a lot and think it looks stupid.
I will see Maria today and see if ther is anything she can do.

It is nothing like the samples she showed me >:(- >:(-

I agree Jerry...I see guys all the time (I'm in a retirement community) that look well over 65 but have solid, jet black hair and grey eyebrows.   Could be a toupe or a dye job, but it looks kind of silly to me too!  lol

I used to know someone who was prematurely gray.  Actually his hair was more silver colored as was his mustache.  He would periodically dye his hair black.  It looked so dumb.  One day he had silver hair and mustache and the next day it would be black.  He would allow the hair to grow back in to its natural color and then repeat the odyssey all over again.  He also had personality quirks that pretty much matched his hair coloring quirks.....

Good luck with your hair Jerry.

Heck yes Michael.  I am blessed with a full head of hair.
My motto is make the best with what you have. Her discription was so good I fell for it.

I know, Jerry, I do count my blessings when people tell me I don't look 48, and because I do have a full head of hair.  But, be that as it may, I am fully willing to accept whatever happens and just deal with it.  I've known too many people who spent a lot of money unnecessarily trying to undo what nature has done to them, and all in all they were always the same person with or without the changes and I liked them just the same.

Hmm, Jerry, let's see.
For $100 I'll colour my hair bright red or something, then noone will even notice yours at Annette's party.

Cheers,

Yes, like Joyce said~~ PIX NOW!!   lol  I was going to make my letters large too, but well, she said first, I'm just repeating..... :D

Anyway, yes, there is a way she can undo it.  She will 'weave' the gray back in (lots of it) and make sure you impress upon her that you were most unhappy with the result.  Hopefully, you won't be charged at all.  Just another stint in the beautician's chair.... 8)

Man, what I wouldn't give to be at that party <sigh>

Oh dear, I am waiting impatiently to see the pics.  {:-P;;

I'm sure I will not like it.  I like you just the way you are.

But, I will say, I will never be grey haired.  Only my hairdresser knows.  ;)

Where is that "finger tapping while I wait" smiley so I can use it until Jerry posts them pics? I'm going to keep my hair brown. I've got a few gray hairs now but I'll make them go away. I will be forever 25. @O@

We're waiting, Jerry!

Rather than shooting at your reflection in a mirror, try holding the camera at arm's length and clicking away several times.  One of the shots is bound to be in focus.....and show us that lovely salt and pepper doo.....

Jerry, my barber continues to suggest that she could "change that silver back to brown" but I'm not going there. I'll just grow old gracefully and accept the fact that I'm aging. At times I think "Thats not me, I just don't feel old." and at other times (most of the time) I think the silver looks good. It denotes wisdom (not always) but as a paramedic if I walk into a room with a much younger medic, they want me to start the IV and trust me more.

Don't sweat the audition, if they comment on your hair and it's worth the bucks you could always shave your head to really look old, it'll grow back and you may like the new look. Just wear a hat so you don't sunburn your head. It's funny the significance that we attach to our hair and it's looks. Everybody, even men have a bad hair day. I'll sleep wrong and wake up with an awfull cowlick that just won't go away. Men are lucky, we can throw on a cap and stroll off.

O0  It's just hard to get a more natural look than what Mother Nature has given us.
When it grays naturally it kinda creeps up on us.  With a dye job...it's just a big whammy.
It's not bad...just not what you're used to.

What's wrong with it???? I don't see anything so terrible about it!!!
I also don't think it looks like an old guy trying to look like a young guy.
It looks fine!!!! Its just different than what you are used to so its making you
feel uncomfortable but it really looks just fine. I actually rather like it. :)

Well I am confused....in your ativar pic it looks like you already had salt and pepper hair...
I don't get it.

If it makes you feel better, I went to go get my eyebrows waxed at my hairdresser who I had been going to for 9 yrs and I came out with one eyebrow shorter and higher than the other one.  When I asked my DH if it was noticeable he said "Well stop frowning or raising it so I can see..." to which  my reply was " I'm not frowning or raising it...that's how it is!"  I had to live with that for 4 weeks until my bushy eyebrows grew in  >:(

I went to work the next day and a co-worker said "Did you do something to your eyebrows?" Yep, she noted it too.  I had visions of that movie where the guy was at the hairdresser and he suddenly moved causing her to razor off completely one eyebrow...dont' recall the name of the movie.  But, I was thinking hmmm, could be worse I could have been like him and only had one eyebrow!

Think I'll wax my own eyebrows now...
My next female cat will be called "Whata Lily"!
