« on: July 23, 2009, 04:21:44 PM »
The Mayla that I bought from Shanna finally bloomed and it was SOOO worth the wait!

pond is still under construction! i got all these rocks from my neighbor! LOL well most of them

planning to add more plants and rocks

here is the rhonda kay i got from Kat. hopefully the other waterlilies will bloom. the other lilies in the picture that are blooming are texas dawn and a purple lily that I bought off ebay. the texas dawn looks 10 times better in person.

SueSTx,

Your water lily is pretty. I really don't know which one is the true mayla, yours or mine. lol

Mayla's blooms are definitely eye catching.  Sometimes my Mayla pictures make it look lighter in color & maybe hot temps influence the color a bit.  For reference pics to see what the actual lily looks like I always will refer to Victoria Adventure
http://www.victoria-adventure.org/waterlilies_images/james_ks/mayla_gallery.html

Glad your Rhonda Kay is doing so well for you & everything is so pretty.  How much full sunlight are you getting?
Kat

There is never enough room for all of the water lilies that I want ;-)

:D  I got my Mayla from a young fellow along with a couple more lilies off Ebay.  The other 2 were not what they were supposed to be either so I have always assummed that it wasn't either.  The rest of mine have all been sold to me as unknowns or came from WalMart.  I usually just refer to my lilies by color   ;D

I enjoy them anyway.

Our Mayla sent out pale blooms to start the season and has since gotten much bolder in color
You can get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right

Thank you everything for the wonderful comments!  O0

Kat my pond gets around 6-7 hours of full sunlight. I was worried this year cause the temperatures were cool but now they are sooo hot.. sometimes you gotta be careful what you wish for.... my lilies are doing well but i'm suffering lol.

Sue, yours looks a lot like Rose Arey. I recognize the pads..... bronze at first then change to green. And they are not perfectly circular, shaped somewhat oval like in your pics. Underneath pads should be reddish-bronze. Flower is stellate and not as intense in color as Mayla. Flowers have a very sweet fragrance up close.

I agree with Mushrooms, it looks like Rose Arey.   If it is it will smell like anise.

I shooed the yellow-jackets off for a sniff...no smell
I got the umberalla out to take new pic...color is better
I also did a little search--looks more like Sensation to me.

Whatever it is I'll still call it my medium pink   ;D  {:-P;;  ::)
