Rain, rain go away . . .
« on: July 23, 2009, 06:31:03 PM »
Its been a cool, rainy summer here in the Northeast.  Tonight PA got hammered with storms.

The weather channel was interviewing an official from our county.  A township about 5 miles from my house got 4" of rain in 2 hrs!  That is what we get in entire month.  Flash flooding everywhere.

So, what does a good ponder do after the storms stop? Go out with a flashlight and check on the stock tanks with this year's fry growing out to make sure no overflow.  No overflow!  My neighbors have to think I'm nuts . . .  {:-P;; :woot: o(

Catastrophic drought in much of TX.  Here in southcentral PA by now the lawns would be crispy brown, but they all are a lush green like late spring.

This year hasn't been a good ponding year at all for most.  Rainy, gloomy, cool summer.  If we don't hit a 90 degree mark in July it will be the coolest in history.

Ponds are like patato chips, ya just can't have one.

For most of July we've been 100 + somedays have been in the upper 80's though.  Several days we have been in the 109* to 111* range.

We've had about 8" rain so far this year.  Just my water bill last month was $170.  I water in self defense.  We have no means to fight a fire locally.

My lilies have bloomed really well even if crispy some days.

It has been a cool wet summer here as well. We got alot of rain yesterday and my ponds did overflow. I checked on them last night and everything seemed ok. It rained more during the night and this morning I found a Watonai on her side and the others gasping for air so one was brought in and that pond was treated. The others swam away when I tried to net them. Thankfully they are all doing ok now and the fish in the other ponds were fine. More rain on the way. ::)
