Here's what my desk top screen looks like.....minus the icons.....  The fishies are koi, shubunkin, mosquito fish and a comet.

This was a pic that really wow-ed me the first time I saw it and I've used it as my desktop for years ... lots of open blue sky to place icons upon and a pic that is still a wow ...  :o

Great idea!  Beautiful pics.
The one I have right now was for Halloween and is a picture of my pet cemetery with our cat, we have been referring to it as "Ghost in the Graveyard".  I am changing it to the one of our pond with all its fall colors.

MikeW: My desk top background is from a photo of the pond that is stored on my pc.  I just uploaded it into PhotoBucket.

John: That is one of my all-time favorite photos.  Very cool.  We sure got our money's worth with the F-14 Tomcat.  I find it sad that it's finally been retired from active service after some 40+ years.  I was in college when it first took to the air in the early 70's...

Here is a pic that I took from a dinner cruise while in Oahu.  Sigh...I wish I was back there again.

MikeW... If you have XP... Right click on your desktop... Properties... Desktop... Look at the file that is highlighted. That is what you have on your desktop. Click Browse to find where it is located on your drive. Then you can just upload it in a reply. Just remember to try and keep it under 200Kb for those on a dial up connection.

Great Desk top photos every one. This is mine today. I change the desk top on the family room computer every morning. We use to run a slide show consisting of my garden photos and Pete's wonderful antique car photos. It was a nice combination but with our recent computer problems we lost that so we need to create a new one. Our friends and family enjoyed seeing the new photos.

Thanks for starting this, and thanks Timgod for the instructions.

Years ago, on the old forum, someone posted this picture-

Unfortunately, I right clicked on the photo and hit the "save as wallpaper" option. I've had it ever since, because I didn't know where the pic was stored. I was afraid to replace it for fear of losing it forever.
So, thanks to Timgod, I was actually able to track it down. It was stored in a very obscure place.
Yippee- now I can replace it! Still love it, just need a change.

BTW, does anyone remember that photo or who posted it?

I'm replacing it with John's F14 pic.  8) O0 I also think it's sad that it has been removed from service. There is no plane qualified enough to replace it.

I'm afraid it's not very pond related. I am a NASCAR fan and was a very big Rusty Wallace fan. After his retirement last year I had to spend this whole year TRYING to choose a replacement driver with no luck. So this has been on my desk top ever since last year. I'm not sure if or when I'll be replacing it.

To my defense - the computer room IS done in a racing theme so the background fits right in!!!

Attending a NASCAR race is on my "things to do" list.  I've worked the Long Beach Grand Prix which runs Indy-type cars but because it is a road-track in the downtown area one can't see the entire course unless they are up in a high-rise bordering the track and even then there are a couple of turns not in view....

Mikey, I've been to Indianapolis, Charlotte & Martinsville. I didn't take that picture, though. I found it online somewhere. I just liked it because it said "Thanks, Rusty" and has him and his wife in the car waving to the fans.

Of the tracks I've been to I really didn't care for Indianapolis all that much. You couldn't see that much of the track. I like Martinsville alot. They aren't going that fast there - maybe 90 mph but I like short track racing the best anyways. I have ALWAYS wanted to go to Bristol. I would have LOVED to seen Rusty race at Bristol. He was AWESOME there!!! I also liked Charlotte alot. Oops, I mean "Lowe's". They have a great tour of the track. We took it a couple of years ago. It was $5.00. They took you around the track in a 15-passenger van. They took you up on the banking and around the track a couple of times. We were going about 80 mph. I was about ready to get sick!!! I thought if I couldn't handle it at 80 mph how could they do it at 180 mph!!!!

No, it's not mine unfortunately. I ran across it online and it was for download so I snagged it. I wish we had sunsets like that here :) I love the contrast and the color.

Indiana Karen, that shot of your fall pond is awesome.

I have hundreds of animal and nature scenes downloaded from Webshots that rotate all the time on my desktop.

Everyone has stunning desktop pictures. And Tinkster, I kinda agree. I have put icons in the trees and on my windows to be able to spot them quickly. That then spoils the picture in the end. LOL.
