Prayers would be good...
« on: August 09, 2009, 05:39:18 AM »
If you could keep me and our family in your prayers in the coming weeks ahead...my oldest daughter had a freak 4 wheeler accident Friday nite.  The axle broke and the wheel fell off as she was riding it.  The result is a fractured pelvis in 3 places, 2 fractured discs in her back, and a fracture in her neck.  Long weeks of rehab ahead and trying to get 2 little girls ready for school and me worrying about appts., daughter, granddaughters, drs. appts., and jockeying my time between 2 houses and what needs to be done where.

I need to take a deep breath and take one day at a time...

Thanks for listening.  :)

Oh, LuAnn, I am so sorry.

Four wheelers are an everyday thing at our house.  Don't know what I would do without mine.  It gets me to the mailbox, garden, etc.  Ours is tagged and insured, and it is legal to ride them on the county roads.  We can easily put fifty miles on it in an evening.  I can't imagine such a freak thing happening.

Hugs and warm thoughts coming your way.   Kids heal so quickly, how old is Maren?

I like her name.  o(:-)

Thank you so very much everyone!  It means more to me than I can express.

We use 4-wheelers on our farm, they are a necessary part.  She usually rides like the wind and we've always warned her about this.  Except THIS time, she wasn't even here, but somewhere else riding and the people who saw her knew she was just putting along.  That the axle would break and the wheel fall off throwing her over the handlebars and then rolling on her.  With NO helmet.....she doesn't realize how lucky she is.  I am so thankful she didn't have her girls riding with her  :'(  She is in the best place she can be, in a Level 1 Trauma center that's top of the line for trauma injuries.  I keep telling myself "this too shall pass"....

She is my oldest daughter, she's 30.  How did she get to be that old?!   :o   :D

OMG! Terrible accident!  Maren has a great mom.  I hope she heals quickly and her girls adjust well without their  mother for a while.  They are very fortunate to have you.  Keep us posted.  Will be sending prayers out for you all.

Maren. Don't think I've ever heard it before and love it. She and you and your family must be so frightened. I just added her to my prayer list on my computer so every time I sit down here, it reminds me. So she has little kids and that complicates matters too. Best wishes to you all.

Thank you so much everyone of you  o(:-)  I'll keep you posted.  We took the girls down to see their mom tonight--they needed to see her and she them.  To be expected, we had to take them out wailing, but they know where she is and she's trying to get well again.   :'(  They just want their mother home, NOW, and things to be as they once were.         We have a long road ahead of us.......

Oh my, what a difficult and painful situation for everyone.  I am sending my wishes and thoughts to you, Maren and her family as well.  She's very lucky to be alive and although I know the road ahead will be tough it at least is there.  Hugs to all of you.

This afternoon she was moved to a new room--for rehab.  They also found she had 3 cracked ribs <sigh>

Anyway, she has been up standing, trying to use a walker for a few steps.  She cannot put any weight on her right leg (where it hooks to the pelvis the pelvis is fractured there).  Her therapist was trying to show her how to bring her right leg along and Maren asked if she could just drag it   lol   ::)  Wow, that made me chuckle, I realize I haven't laughed in a long time...

She has been on a bedside commode and will learn to wash her hair and do the things we all take for granted everyday.  She may be looking at a couple of weeks here, but it's in the same hospital on the same floor, just down a few doors.  She has to wear a neck collar all the time (has a special one for the shower).  Therapist said that even if she sneezed without that collar on, she could paralize herself.   :o   :o

I take the girls home everyday and feed and check on the cats, cleaned the frig and check on her fish in her little pond she built all by herself.  It makes them feel good to be there and they seem better when we leave.  I water plants while they watch a video and chill.  That's where we are as of today--she's making progress and I am so thankful you are praying for us.  I am proud of her progress and will go see her and take the girls on Thurs. I'll keep you posted-- o(:-)

Here's a thought, because of Esther's post....LuAnn....could any of us who care to send gift cards to Target or someplace close? Or maybe close by restaurants they like so they can have some easy meals when she gets home?
Glad to hear she has made some progress and keeping her in my prayers.
