Someone asked about why there seem to be so few 'true blue' lilies; granted most blue seedlings do have at least some infusion of purple/violet tones, but I wouldn't call blue rare.
My personal opinion? When push comes to shove, the nuances of the more pastel colored lilies are lost on the buyer and they want vivid and bold and true blues, with the exception of a 'Laura Frase', tend to be somewhat muted. These are a few of the blue seedlings I keep around that bloomed today, mostly I keep them because I have really come to appreciate soft colors. Some you may have seen before....I know I have shown the last one in the past, just because it so closely resembles 'Islamorada', but is blue and has mottled pads.....and isn't a vivip.
I have another half micrantha in bud that has nicer mottling and vivips readily but I haven't seen a bloom yet. I am hoping it is pink, but suspect it may be the typical washed out blue/lavender color common to that cross. But until it blooms....I can hope.<g>
