My pond today
« on: August 18, 2009, 05:44:22 PM »
I finally got my camera back!  I'm waiting for my one lily to bloom then I'll take a picture of that as well, but for now, here's what I have.

The last one is Almost Black. It's much darker IRL but it kept coming out real bright.

Thanks! So far so good with the skippy.  I've only got 5 koi and two goldfish though. I do want to get a few more koi.  The pond is 2700 gallons.  I have both a bottom drain and a skimmer.  I think my hyacinths in the skippy top help with the string algae. It seems to get caught in their roots and not spread.  I try to keep it cleaned out of there as much as I can.

I can't wait for my plants to grow in, that's the part I'm most impatient about. I hate all the rock work without the plants to softening it up.

Speaking of plants are Coleus supposed to flower?

Gosh!  Your pond water is so clear.  Beautiful.

Coleus do eventually bloom but the flowers are sort of spiky and not to colorful.  Its the foliage we all go for when we plant coleus.

Wow, huge koi!

My coleus bloomed recently - and I cut them all off.  As mentioned above, they're spikey and insignificant.  I deadheaded them to encourage more foliage.

I don't want my coleus to flower, but it's started sending up one.  I'll cut it off!
